Purchase a Silent Auction Credit
If you want to run a single silent auction without committing to an ongoing plan, you can buy a one-off silent auction credit from the Plan page. One credit gives you one event with unlimited items and unlimited attendees. There are two ways to get auction capacity, and it is worth understanding the difference before you pay.
The first is the one-off credit, bought from the 'Add-on' bar on the Plan page, which costs £249.99 + VAT and covers a single event. The second is the annual 'Silent Auction' plan at £999.99 + VAT per year, which removes the per-event credit requirement and lets you run unlimited auctions.
Important: the one-off credit add-on is only offered when you are not already on the Silent Auction plan, so if you are on that plan the 'Add-on' bar will not appear (and you do not need credits anyway). All prices are currency-dependent and are always quoted plus VAT.
This guide walks you through buying the one-off credit, and points you to the annual plan if unlimited events suit you better.
Before you start
- You are signed in to the GiveTap charity dashboard as an Administrator. Billing settings are intended for charity admins.
- You are not already on the 'Silent Auction' annual plan. If you are, you have unlimited auctions already and the one-off credit 'Add-on' bar will not be shown.
- Have a valid payment card ready. You can pay with a card already saved on your account, or enter a new card during checkout.
Steps
- Go to Settings, then Billing, then Plan. The web address is /dashboard/settings/billing/plan. This is where your plan cards and the silent auction add-on are shown.
Note: If you cannot see the Billing section, your account may not have Administrator access. Ask a colleague who is an Administrator, or contact GiveTap support.
- Find the 'Add-on' bar near the foot of the plan cards. It reads 'Add-on: Run a one-off silent auction with no commitment by paying £249.99 + VAT' (or $499.99 in Australian dollars). The price shown depends on your account currency.
Warning: If you do not see the 'Add-on' bar, you are most likely already on the annual 'Silent Auction' plan. In that case you have unlimited auctions and do not need to buy a credit. If you want unlimited events instead of a single one, see the final step about the annual plan.
- Click the 'Pay £249.99' button on the 'Add-on' bar and a confirmation window will open before any payment is taken.
- In the confirmation window, read the heading 'Please confirm that you would like to purchase a one-off silent auction event.' Then choose how you want to pay using the buttons at the bottom of the window.
Tip: Which buttons you see depends on whether you have a card saved. If you have a saved card you will see 'Pay ... from Saved Card' and 'Pay ... from Other Card'. If you have no saved card you will see a single 'Pay ... now' button.
- To pay with a card already on your account, click 'Pay £249.99 from Saved Card'. This charges your saved card straight away. When it succeeds you will see a confirmation, and the page will refresh after a few seconds.
- To pay with a different or new card, click 'Pay £249.99 from Other Card', or 'Pay £249.99 now' if you have no saved card. GiveTap opens a secure Stripe payment session in your browser where you enter your card details and complete the payment. Once finished you are returned to the Plan page.
Note: Stripe is GiveTap's payment provider. The card entry page is hosted securely by Stripe and is the same kind of checkout you see at other online shops.
- After payment, go to your Silent Auction area and check the 'Event Credits' figure at the top of the page. It should have increased by one. Hovering the small information icon next to it shows the note 'One credit equates to one event with unlimited items and attendees.'
Tip: If the credit count has not updated immediately, refresh the page. Card payments can take a moment to be confirmed.
- If you expect to run several auctions rather than just one, consider the annual 'Silent Auction' plan instead of buying credits one at a time. From the Plan or Choose a Plan cards, find the 'Silent Auction' card (£999.99 + VAT per year in GBP, or $1999.99 in Australian dollars) and click its 'Choose Plan' button. This plan gives unlimited silent auctions and removes the per-event credit requirement, so the one-off 'Add-on' bar no longer appears once you are on it.
Warning: The annual plan and the one-off credit are different things. The annual plan is a recurring yearly subscription for unlimited events; the credit is a single payment for one event. Choose whichever matches how often you plan to run auctions.
You're done when…
- You can reach the Plan page and locate the 'Add-on' bar offering a one-off silent auction.
- You can open the 'Please confirm that you would like to purchase a one-off silent auction event' window and choose to pay from a saved card, from another card, or with a single 'Pay ... now' button.
- A saved-card payment charges immediately, while a new card opens a secure Stripe payment session, and you complete payment successfully.
- Back in the Silent Auction area, the 'Event Credits' figure has increased.
- You understand that the annual 'Silent Auction' plan (£999.99 + VAT per year) is the alternative for unlimited events, and that the one-off add-on is hidden when you are already on that plan.
