Creating a GiveTap account

Overview

There are a few key activities required in order to get started with GiveTap. First of all you’ll  need to setup a GiveTap account so that you can create campaigns, view analytics  and download reports. If you haven't already, you’ll also need to create an account with one of our partner payment platforms so that you can begin receiving donations. To help you decide on  which payment processor might be the best option for you, we’ve illustrated their fees  below: 


Stripe payments 

  • Online payment processing fee: 1.4% + 20p 
  • Card reader payment processing fee: 1.4% + 10p 

Example online fees: 

£1 donation: £0.22

£100 donation: £1.60


Example card reader fees: 

£1 donation: £0.12

£100 donation: £1.50


Square payments 

  • Online payment processing fee: 1.4% + 25p
  • Card reader payment processing fee: 1.75% 

Example online fees: 

£1 donation: £0.27

£100 donation: £1.65


Example card reader fees: 

£1 donation: £0.02

£100 donation: £1.75


Creating a GiveTap account

Registration page

Registration page URL:  

https://portal.givetap.co.uk/register


Email 

Your email address used to login, such as ‘yourname@organisationname.com’. We recommend you use an email address on the domain of your charity, CIC or company as this helps us validate your authenticity.


Password 

The password required to login, this must be at least 8 characters long. 


Name  

Your full name, such as ‘Sam Smith’. 


Job Title 

The function you perform for your organisation. 


Contact Number 

A number that can be used to contact yourself or your organisation. 


Charity Invite Code (optional) 

If you are joining an existing organisation and have received an invite email link a link to register, you should see this field pre-populated with the charity invite code.

If you include this code whilst registering then you will skip the next step ‘Adding your organisation’s information’.

Adding your organisation’s information 

After registering for a user account, and if you didn’t enter a Charity Invite Code, you will be prompted  to enter details about your organisation. 

Enter the charity name, number, and address  associated with the organisation in the form and  click the ‘register’ button. This will create a new  organisation within our records and create your account as the ‘Admin’ account. Note that ‘Admin’  account status can be changed later. 


What if our organisation is not a charity? 

If you are not a charitable organisation please enter your business name and number in the Charity  Name and Charity Number fields. 


How do I join an existing organisation? 

If you have reached this page and are still looking to  join an existing organisation you can enter the  Charity Invite Code you will have received via email  and click the ‘join’ button. To receive a Charity  Invite Code you will need to ask an account Admin  to invite you via email. 


The email the Charity Invite Code is sent to must  be the same as the one you registered your user  account with.


Payment account setup and account verification 

If you did not join an existing organisation then you will need to set up or link a payment  gateway account and await verification while GiveTap looks over your registration. 

You can currently use two payment gateways: Stripe or Square.  

Both gateways offer online and in-person payment options, including via ApplePay, GPay and credit and debit cards.


Setup instructions for  Stripe 

To link with Stripe select the ‘connect with stripe’ button, this will open a unique URL  starting with ‘connect.stripe.com’. 


Already have a Stripe account 

Enter the email and password associated with your existing organisation’s Stripe account.  Once you click ‘continue’ this will automatically redirect to the GiveTap website. 


Do not have a Stripe account 

If you need to setup a Stripe account select the ‘Sign up’ button at the bottom of the  page. 

You will start by entering a name, email, and password. Then you will be required to enter  more information about your organisation. You may need someone within your  organisation to help with entering some of these details. 


What is Stripe? 

Stripe is a global payments company that we use for online payment processing. Your funds are never held directly by GiveTap, they are held within your Stripe account. Stripe allows for automated payouts and should be linked to your organisation's bank account. 

Funds that you receive within your Stripe account will automatically have any fees  deducted, therefore, any Stripe payments received will not be further invoiced. 


Our Stripe account is linked but the GiveTap account is not verified

Setup instructions for Square 


Already have a Square account 

Click ‘Connect with Square’ and enter the email and password associated with your  existing organisation’s Square account. Once you click ‘continue’ this will automatically  redirect to the GiveTap website. 


Do not have a Square account 

If you need to setup a Square account click ‘Connect with Square’ then select the ‘Don’t  have a Square account? Sign up’ button at the bottom of the page. 

If your organisation is a charity then select ‘Partnership’ during the sign up flow and  provide the necessary business details. 


What is Square? 

Square is one of the services GiveTap uses for online payment processing. Your funds are  never held directly by GiveTap, they are held within your Square account. Square allows  for automated payouts and should be linked to your organisation's bank account. 

Funds that you receive within your Square account will automatically have any fees  deducted, therefore, any Square payments received will not be further invoiced.


Account approval

Once your account is reviewed you will receive an email from our team either confirming acceptance or rejection of your account. If approved you will be redirected to the dashboard within our admin panel.
