Checking Your Stripe Account Health

GiveTap shows you a simple Account health summary for your connected Stripe account, right inside your Payments settings. It uses a traffic-light dot and a plain-language status so you can tell at a glance whether donations and payouts are working, and it points you to Stripe if anything needs your attention. GiveTap only reads your Stripe account to show this status. It never changes anything on Stripe, so checking your health here is completely safe and never affects your donations.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to the GiveTap charity dashboard as an Administrator. The Payments page is Administrator-only, so other team members will not see it.
  • Your charity already has a Stripe account linked in GiveTap. The Account health summary only appears for a linked Stripe provider.

Steps

  1. Open your Payments settings by going to Settings, then Payments

Note: If you cannot see the Payments page, your account may not have Administrator access. Ask a colleague who is an Administrator, or contact GiveTap support.

  1. Find the Stripe payment provider card near the top of the page. It shows 'Linked' with a tick when your Stripe account is connected.
  2. Inside the Stripe card, look for the 'Account health' summary row. It has a small traffic-light dot on the left (green, amber or red) followed by the words 'Account health:' and a status label.

Tip: Green means all is well, amber means something needs attention soon, and red means donations or payouts are affected right now.

  1. Read the status label next to the dot. You will see one of: Healthy, Update recommended, Action needed, Under review, Payouts paused, Payments paused, or Account closed. If the status cannot be read just now it may say Checking or Unavailable instead.
  2. Click anywhere on the 'Account health' row to expand it. A healthy account starts collapsed to keep things tidy, while anything that needs attention opens automatically. Inside you will see a short headline and a sentence or two explaining what it means.

If a link appears below the explanation, such as 'Resolve in Stripe', 'Review in Stripe' or 'Contact Stripe Support', click it to open Stripe and deal with the issue there. The link opens Stripe in a new browser tab, so your GiveTap page stays open.

Tip: Refresh is limited to once a minute, so if your status looks unchanged straight after fixing something in Stripe, wait about a minute and try again. GiveTap also updates this automatically in the background when Stripe reports a change, so it can catch up on its own.

You're done when…

  • You can see the 'Account health' summary row inside the linked Stripe card on the Payments page.
  • You understand your current status from the dot colour and the label (for example Healthy, Action needed, or Payments paused).
  • If action was needed, you opened the Stripe link in the new tab and resolved the requirement on Stripe.
