API
What is an API?
An API (Application Programming Interface) is like a menu in a restaurant. It tells you what you can ask for and how to ask for it - and in return, you get something useful back.
In GiveTap’s case, the API allows your own systems or apps to access data from your fundraising events - such as donations, ticket sales, silent auction bids, and guest registrants—without logging in manually to the platform.
Think of it as a bridge between GiveTap and your own reporting or CRM tools.
What Can You Do With the GiveTap API?
Our API provides access to four key types of data:
1. Donation Data
- Endpoint:
/payments - Use it to: Retrieve details of donations, including amounts, donor info (where available), and timestamps.
2. Fundraisers and Ticket Sales
- Endpoint:
/fundraisers-and-tickets - Use it to: View information about fundraising campaigns and ticketed events, including participants and revenue.
3. Silent Auction Bids
- Endpoint:
/silent-auction-bids - Use it to: Get a full bid history from your silent auctions—who bid, how much, and when.
4. Silent Auction Registrants
- Endpoint:
/silent-auction-registrants - Use it to: Retrieve the list of people who registered to take part in your silent auction.
Who Is It For?
- Developers: Integrate GiveTap data into your CRM, internal dashboards, or reporting tools.
- Partners or Agencies: Build custom tools or dashboards using your clients' fundraising data.
Getting Started
- Authentication: You’ll need your API key to access the data. Go to Settings > API and click 'Reveal Key' to see your API key.
- Choose an Endpoint: Decide what type of data you need—payments, tickets, bids, or registrants.
- Make a Request: Send a
POSTrequest to the correct endpoint with the appropriate filters or parameters. - Receive Data: The system will send back structured data (usually in JSON format) you can use or display.
